Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread

I’ve been meaning to post this recipe for ages and ages! I always either eat all the bread before I can photograph it (a known problem around here) or somehow lose/delete/eat the photos before I can post. But — finally! — I think I have all the pieces together and ready to brag about this awesome recipe!

I can’t take credit for it (it’s my mother-in-law’s) but I definitely bake this a lot and gobble it all up. It never lasts long! I sometimes add nuts and sometimes not, and often use whole-wheat flour if I’ve got enough on hand. I think it complements the banana well. In any case, it’s delicious!

Chocolate-Chip Banana Bread

Makes 1 loaf. (I double it all the time though!)

2 very ripe medium bananas
1/2 cup butter, chilled, cut into 6 pieces
1 1/2 cups flour
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1/4 cup milk
2 teaspoons lemon juice
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon baking soda
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
1/2 cup walnuts, optional

Put bananas and butter in food processor for 20 seconds. Then add next 7 ingredients to blend.

Add chocolate chips and walnuts (optional) last.

Bake in greased and floured loaf pan at 350 degrees for 55-60 minutes.  You may need to cover the top with foil for the last 10 minutes or so to prevent over-browning.
